I am going to put it out there… Oka is my newest crush. I’m loving their Home Accessories, so much interior joy can come from one item. A few weeks ago I mentioned the fabulous Gusto hand hooks and they were a hit with fellow Instagram interior lovers. Also on my wish list are their mounted faux Gazelle antlers and the Ibex antlers. I think antlers are still as cool as ever, not only as they can stand alone as an individual piece, but you can customise them with accessories to give them a real individual look. On Instagram, a couple of accounts really show how great you can make antlers look with a bit of dressing for events like Halloween, Christmas or just to showcase personal items. Oka also have faux animal heads that also are a bit special. I love the versatility as they would look good on a white wall for a scandi/boho look or against a dark backdrop for that cool eclectic vibe. Remember Instagram is great for styling inspiration!
I don’t know about you guys but I seem to spend my life at B&Q… No I’m not a member of staff! If I’m not working on a project for work, I’m working on a project for my home. B&Q is the go too store that has everything needed for DIY and they are not doing bad at accessories for finishing off your newly decorated space as well.
When we made over our bathroom, we used black and white and exposed a brick wall. Although the brick wall does have a lovely warm colour, I still knew I needed to soften the look to make it feel more luxe. I opted for feathers. I first bought the Melito feather ball lampshade from B&Q and loved its look so I also used a feather wall hanging I bought from Audenza to break up the black wall. I think it all ties in and softens the room. The feathers would look fab in a girls bedroom for that soft feminine vibe or a master bedroom for that dreamy look. The more textures you can add, the more it brings the scheme together.
Halloween has gripped the nation again! As year on year Halloween gets bigger. Taken from America, we have embraced the whole concept from dressing up, parties and dressing our homes. We are now taking this very seriously, so here is my run down of my coolest finds!!!
Etsy is always one of my favourite places to find bespoke and unusual items. These retailers on Etsy appreciate every order as all small business owners do and the companies are from all around the world, so your choice of little gems just got a whole load bigger!
I love skulls and skull planters are so cool right now. Greenery is massive in homes at the moment and an Instagram photo doesn’t look right without a plant or two. I partially love Mudpuppy’s
skull planters/vase, they look great for Halloween but you can display them all year round. Think of bookshelves, bathrooms, anywhere really. So cute, in a cute skull kind of way!
Now… I love cushions, I know its a bit of a woman thing but men, bare with me. Blossomvioletcrafts have the most amazing pin-up girl zombie cushion covers. So quirky, so cool and this would look fab in a man cave all year round! I love pieces that make a statement and provoke conversion and this definitely would.
Last of my top three has to be KennaSato designs. Prints, wall decals and removable stickers, this designer knows how to make an impact. Skulls are plentiful on this Etsy shop and they all come in Twenty-three colour-ways so can fit into any scheme. From cow skulls, skulls and roses or just skulls, these would get you into the Halloween spirit. Great for a boys bedroom to rock it up or a snug or man cave to give that edgy vibe.
SKULLS are not just for Halloween… be brave all year!!!
Made.com is a massive hit for all interior savvy people. There products are quality, plush and are statement pieces, that not only look super cool now, but they are investment items. There furniture can make a room, especially on Instagram. My favourite accounts on Insta all have key items from Made.com for example @comedowntothewoods @the_girl_with_the_green_sofa (a Made.com sofa) and @artynads, just to name a few.
With there furniture been classic shapes and with a rich palette of materials, it makes for stylish, luxurious yet functional, comfortable and gorgeous objects. Recently I have been stocking up on a few bits of Halloween paraphernalia. I have to admit I am not mad keen on Halloween, but any excuse to dress the house a little bit differently, therefore I am well aware that the countdown for Christmas is on, and this is my major highlight. I love monochrome, as you can tell, if you follow me on Instagram, so this year I am thinking black and white decorations for the Christmas tree. I always go classy with my decorations in my living room, and trashy in the dining room, with neons and bright colours… it must be a symptom of being a child of the 1980s 😉 I have been browsing, having a pre look at decorations and I have to give a massive Hooray to Cox and Cox.
I love their Christmas tree decoration collection. As an alternative to standard baubles they stock some great little vintage cars, penguins, donkeys, snow-flakes and other quirky must-haves. One of my personal favourites is the tiny felt mouse!
Biba is an iconic brand, founded in the 60s (my favourite era). It has always had that air of decadence and elegance. The Barbara Hulanicki named the brand after her little sister and it inspired me with my daughters name!
Biba has such a strong meaning of style, and their new home wear range is sublime, take a look at House Of Fraser . The Paradise Palm Tree lamps, really caught my eye (table or floor lamps available) Also the logo is always a classic eye
Wallpaper Direct is the go to website that has all my favourite brands in one place. From Barneby Gates to Mini Moderns, and bigger companies like Cole & Son and Little Greene, they stock them all.
I have wallpaper in every room in my house. I love how it changes the feel, texture and drama of the space. While Cole & Son are classic and buying their wallpaper is always money well spent, take a look at the smaller companies, which will make your room feel a little more bespoke. I find using wallpaper, an easy way to add personality to a room.
WOW! Look what I found on OKA, these Gesto hand wall hooks. The friendly hand gestures make a great addition to artwork on your gallery wall, hooks in the hallway for keys, hats etc, or in the kitchen for tea towels and aprons. But I think these are too good to hide. make them a main design feature.
These would go with any colour scheme or style. I still haven’t told you the best thing…. they are only £42 for all three!
Having had my children and being there and done it with nurseries, the Mother in me still can’t stop having a quick look. Here we feature this furniture set from Mamas & Papas a Yorkshire born company and have changed the way new parents buy. The ranges are so cool now and are so well made, it’s a shame babies don’t stay babies for longer… obviously a woman writing this!
Bunny and Clyde- created by two friends who went through pregnancy together, have collaborated with Mamas & Papas and created a stunning limited edition range. With the geometric birchwood, compliment by grey, it is perfect for baby boys or baby girls. It makes me all broody!
We are loving rugs!!! Every kind of rug, sheepskin, faux fur, hides… I could go on! While in the pursuit of finding the perfect rug I found an absolutely perfect one from Kukoon. Kukoon have a brilliant website and my favourite has to be the longest named rug ever… ready… deep breath… ‘Cream Fluffy Geometric Shaggy Rug- Helsinki’ It is so nice, how cosy does that look. No slippers needed on this beauty.
It ties in with the colours of the moment, and is sure to be that will be something that will involve with your rooms scheme.
