Biba is an iconic brand, founded in the 60s (my favourite era). It has always had that air of decadence and elegance. The Barbara Hulanicki named the brand after her little sister and it inspired me with my daughters name!
Biba has such a strong meaning of style, and their new home wear range is sublime, take a look at House Of Fraser . The Paradise Palm Tree lamps, really caught my eye (table or floor lamps available) Also the logo is always a classic eye
Wallpaper Direct is the go to website that has all my favourite brands in one place. From Barneby Gates to Mini Moderns, and bigger companies like Cole & Son and Little Greene, they stock them all.
I have wallpaper in every room in my house. I love how it changes the feel, texture and drama of the space. While Cole & Son are classic and buying their wallpaper is always money well spent, take a look at the smaller companies, which will make your room feel a little more bespoke. I find using wallpaper, an easy way to add personality to a room.
WOW! Look what I found on OKA, these Gesto hand wall hooks. The friendly hand gestures make a great addition to artwork on your gallery wall, hooks in the hallway for keys, hats etc, or in the kitchen for tea towels and aprons. But I think these are too good to hide. make them a main design feature.
These would go with any colour scheme or style. I still haven’t told you the best thing…. they are only £42 for all three!
Having had my children and being there and done it with nurseries, the Mother in me still can’t stop having a quick look. Here we feature this furniture set from Mamas & Papas a Yorkshire born company and have changed the way new parents buy. The ranges are so cool now and are so well made, it’s a shame babies don’t stay babies for longer… obviously a woman writing this!
Bunny and Clyde- created by two friends who went through pregnancy together, have collaborated with Mamas & Papas and created a stunning limited edition range. With the geometric birchwood, compliment by grey, it is perfect for baby boys or baby girls. It makes me all broody!
We are loving rugs!!! Every kind of rug, sheepskin, faux fur, hides… I could go on! While in the pursuit of finding the perfect rug I found an absolutely perfect one from Kukoon. Kukoon have a brilliant website and my favourite has to be the longest named rug ever… ready… deep breath… ‘Cream Fluffy Geometric Shaggy Rug- Helsinki’ It is so nice, how cosy does that look. No slippers needed on this beauty.
It ties in with the colours of the moment, and is sure to be that will be something that will involve with your rooms scheme.
Gin is so popular at the moment, anyone who is anyone on Instagram seem to have full on Gin shelves and bar carts, teaming with the stuff. Personally it’s not my tipple as it reminds me of doing the Atkins diet in the 90s! On a hot summers evening sat in the garden with a gorgeous glass, filled with gin, tonic, ice and a slice of lemon, does sound very appealing… and I wouldn’t say no, especially in this beautiful glass-wear from LSA International
Habitat is an old favourite of mine, as York had a lovely store, that I have bought many items from over the years… from can openers, to fab bedding, and their towels are AMAZING! This chair really caught my eye, just for the simplicity of the design. This NAOKO grey and yellow Seater Sofa from Habitat. This would be perfect for a reading corner, or when the offspring want to upgrade their bedroom, aspiring to a more grown up look!
If you follow @stylingyorkpretty on Instagram, you will know how I love prints of Kate Moss. They are available from Art Republic. She can instantly make a room appear more Rock ‘n’ Roll, and give the edge that no other model can. I also love Twiggy, but Kate Moss oozes coolness. This print of Kate Moss by VEEBEE is a gorgeous piece. A real investment with it being a limited edition of 80. How incredible would this look on the wall of any establishment, house, bar or restaurant. It’s such an amazing piece.
All Slim Aarons’ work is iconic. This is poolside gossip from Art Republic, set at the Palm Springs residence of Edgar Kaufman, in 1970. Recognisable instantly, for the glamour, location and privileged, beautiful people. This would look perfect in any room in your home. I would love this in my family bathroom, living room, or dining room for that matter.
Also take a look at ‘Keep Your Cool’ by Slim Aarons, love the casual couple enjoying the game of backgammon, while lounging in the pool.
Etsy is a fantastic place to pick up one off hand crafted items for the home. Artisan, boho style is massive at the moment and Macrame fits in with this look so well. Macarame gives a different texture to a scheme and I am loving the work of Sarah Simonds from Myoffthewallshop. I would highly recommend, as I have my eye on this one.
